FOX and CW will swap local affiliates tomorrow (August 1st). Anyone want to take odds on whether Nielsen tracks this change correctly/seemlessly? I would not be surprised at all to see numbers that exclude the San Diego market and finals that are a bit delayed.

I would doubt that Nielsen will have any difficulty with the transition...the memo has probably already been issued which says as of midnight, roll-up viewers of KSWB to FOX national sample and roll-up viewers of XETV to The CW sample.
No, the real disruption will occur for viewers looking for "WWE Smackdown" and finding FOX Friday Flick "The Fog" instead, and DVR settings for Sundays Animation Domination block that all of a sudden is bringing in "Everybody Hates Chris"...the switchboards at KSWB and XETV will be kept alight for a few nights at least.
Over the next three months, loyal viewers of "WWE Smackdown" will have had to find their show on three different stations in the San Diego market until it finds its permanent berth on XDTV My13 in San Diego.
In a sign that CW came out on top with this affiliate swap (besides just getting the higher power, more watched local news affiliate), San Diego added 161,000 residents between 2000 and 2007. Of those 161,000 new residents, 150,000 of them were Hispanic. Broadcasting on the only Mexico owned/stationed affiliate may be a key to long term survival in San Diego. http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2008-08-07-census_N.htm
