The CW continues its fairly odd episode number ordering trend by ordering EIGHT more episodes of One Tree Hill, bringing the order to 21. This news comes on the heels of a SEVEN episode pick up for Veronica Mars for a total order of 20.

No word yet whether either of these series can be brought up to 22 episodes for the season, or why The CW is bring so randomly stingy (given that its backup programming treasture trove is fairly empty).

Is One Tree Hill going to end its season before Palm Springs arrives or will it move to a new night (maybe Sundays at 9pm) when Palm Springs starts? It would make more sense to give the new drama the post Topmodel slot.

I'm betting that VM gets the boot for a few weeks at least or maybe gets moved to Sunday. The CW seems to be happy with One Tree Hill so far.
