----------
-Friday’s Winners: Ghost Whisperer (CBS), NCIS R (CBS), Numb3rs (CBS)
-Disappointing: Supernanny (ABC), Don’t Forget the Lyrics (Fox)
-Friday’s Losers (excluding repeats): Deal or No Deal (NBC), Wife Swap (ABC), Every Hates Chris (CW), The Game (CW), Crusoe (NBC), Lipstick Jungle (NBC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: It was another clean Friday sweep for CBS, with a first-place finish in every half-hour care of its combination of Ghost Whisperer (Viewers: 11.05 million; A18-49: 2.8/ 9), a repeat of NCIS (Viewers: 11.26 million; A18-49: 2.4/ 7) in place of recently canceled The Ex-List, and Numb3rs (Viewers: 11.21 million; A18-49: 2.6/ 8). With compatibility this flawless, it’s too bad the NCIS encore cannot remain in the hour permanently. The next best thing could be Canadian drama Flashpoint, which is scheduled to return in midseason.
ABC finished in the distant No. 2 spot overall with its line-up of Wife Swap (Viewers: #4, 4.61 million; A18-49: #2, 1.7/ 6), Supernanny (Viewers: #2, 5.43 million; A18-49: #2, 1.9/ 6) and 20/20 (Viewers: #2, 8.19 million; A18-49: #2, 2.2/ 7), which focused on a murder investigation. As I have been saying for weeks (months, actually), ABC might benefit on Friday if it tapped into corporate cousin The Disney Channel to program the night. Wife Swap and Supernanny are just not cutting it from 8-10 p.m.
Fox was up next, with non-scripted duo Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (Viewers: #2, 6.42 million; A18-49: #3, 1.6/ 5), which featured guest competitor Gene Simmons, and Don’t Forget the Lyrics (Viewers: #3, 4.93 million; A18-49: #3, 1.6/ 5). On a personal note, I will have the honor of interviewing the amazing Gene, who is hosting Mediaweek’s Media All-Stars luncheon this Wednesday.
The news remains bleak for NBC (so what else is new?) with its combination of Deal or No Deal (Viewers: #2, 5.53 million; A18-49: #4, 1.1/ 4), begging-to-be canceled Crusoe (Viewers: #4, 4.16 million; A18-49: #4, 1.0/ 3) and former Wednesday occupant Lipstick Jungle (Viewers: #3, 3.34 million; A18-49: #3, 1.2/ 4), which is not benefiting on the lower HUT level Friday. Wasn’t that contestant butting heads with Howie Mandel totally obnoxious?
The CW was last with its line-up of Everybody Hates Chris (Viewers: #5, 1.72 million; A18-49: #5, 0.7/ 2), The Game (Viewers: #5, 1.68 million; A18-49: #5, 0.8/ 2) and a repeat of America’s Next Top Model (Viewers: #5, 1.55 million; A18-49: #5, 0.6/ 2). But it manage to outdeliver NBC overall among adults 18-34 and women 18-34. Once again, no show on any week has as many losers as Friday.

-Saturday’s Winners: Nothing
-Saturday’s Losers (excluding repeats): The night overall, as usual. Yawn!
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: Saturday Night Football on ABC led the low-rated Saturday troops, with the California vs. USC match-up at an estimated 7.54 million viewers and a 2.5 rating/8 share in prime-time. As a reminder, results for any live sporting event are always approximate.
CBS finished second overall in total viewers, care of a repeat of CSI: NY (Viewers: #2, 5.90 million; A18-49: #3, 1.4/ 4), a repeat of Without a Trace (Viewers: #2, 6.94 million; A18-49: #4, 1.4/ 4) and 48 Hour Mystery, which perked up to 8.05 million viewers (#1) and a third-place 1.9/ 6 among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m. The double-digit growth for 48 Hours Mystery out of the Without a Trace encore is worth noting.
Fox’s perennial combination of Cops (Viewers: #3, 5.80 million; A18-49: #2, 2.0/ 6) and America’s Most Wanted (Viewers: #3, 5.49 million; A18-49: #2, 1.9/ 6) finished third overall in total viewers and second among adults 18-49. And lowly NBC capped off the evening with repeats of Knight Rider (Viewers: #4, 2.82 million; A18-49: #4, 0.8/ 2), which is not worthy of its recent full season renewal, and a repeat of the two-hour SNL Presidential Bash special (Viewers: 5.09 million; A18-49: 2.0/ 6 from 9-11 p.m.). All I can say is…what a snore!

-Yesterday’s Winners: Football Overrun (CBS), 60 Minutes (CBS), Sunday Night Football, N.Y. Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles (NBC), Desperate Housewives (ABC)
-Yesterday’s Losers (excluding repeats) Football Night in America (NBC, 7-8 p.m.), Valentine (CW), Easy Money (CW)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: CBS led Sunday in the overnights, beating football ignited NBC by an average of six percent. CBS’ victory is attributed to an approximate half-hour football overrun at a mammoth 18.4 rating/31 share in the 7 p.m. half hour. 60 Minutes, which began at approximately 7:30 p.m., followed with a dominant 12.7/20, followed by The Amazing Race 13 (#3: 7.3/11 from 8:30-9:30 p.m.), Cold Case (#3: 8.5/14 from 9:30-10:30 p.m.) and the first half of The Unit at a third-place 6.3/10 at 10:30 p.m. Keep in mind, of course, that all results for CBS last night were approximate due to the football overrun. Looking ahead, CBS may want to think about tightening the Sunday 9 p.m. hour next season and moving Cold Case to Friday at 9 p.m. (out of Ghost Whisperer and into Numb3rs).
Over at NBC, the New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles match-up on Sunday Night Football netted an estimated (and dominant) 12.4/19 in the overnights from 8:30-11 p.m. Earlier in the evening was pre-game Football Night in America at a mere 3.5/ 7 from 7-8 p.m. (#3), followed by the 8 p.m. portion at an also third-place 6.4/10.
ABC’s Sunday line-up -- NASCAR (#2: 4.5/ 8), a half-hour edition of America’s Funniest Home Videos (#3: 3.8/ 6), Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (#3: 6.9/10), Desperate Housewives (#2: 10.1/15) and Brothers & Sisters (#2: 7.3/12) -- came in at typical Sunday levels (and that was 15 percent below one year earlier, which also included NASCAR). Part of the year-to-year erosion for Brothers & Sisters (-19 percent) can be attributed to the weaker Desperate Housewives lead-in and, possibly, the Justin and Rebecca storyline. Are we really happy seeing them as a couple? As for Desperate Housewives, don’t we all wish that Teri Hatcher’s Susan would be one of the victims in next week’s fire?
Fox was also on par with typical overnight Sunday levels with its line-up of a repeat of King of the Hill (#3: 2.9/ 5), a repeat of The Simpsons (#4: 3.5/ 5), original installments of The Simpsons (#4: 5.3/ 8) and King of the Hill (#4: 4.2/ 6), and Family Guy (#4: 5.3/ 8) and American Dad (#4: 4.2/ 6). Almost invisible the CW capped off the evening with its deadly (and embarrassing) combination of a repeat of In Harms Way (0.5/ 1), Valentine (0.6/ 1) and Easy Money (0.5/ 1).

On the Air Tonight:
CBS: 8:00 p.m. The Big Bang Theory
As CBS struggles desperately to stay ahead of CW Network in the ratings, they have resorted to writing this week's The Big Bang Theory episode to revolve around two of the America's Next Top Model cast members for this season. So, tune in and watch Analeigh and Samantha on The Big Bang Theory tonight (Wolowitz never seemed so cool until now ), then tune in to CW network on Wednesday 8pm EST to see them compete on America's Next top Model.
Side note: in other sweeps month casting stunts, April from Season #2 of America's Next Top Model was in Lipstick Jungle last week.
