-Ratings Breakdown: CBS opened this second week in February on a winning overnight note care of its combination of How I Met Your Mother (#3: 7.1 rating/10 share), which is expected to score once again among adults 18-49, Accidentally on Purpose (#3: 6.2/ 9), which is moving to Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. to make room for benchwarmer Rules of Engagement, Two and a Half Men (#1: 11.2/16), The Big Bang Theory (#1: 10.3/15) and CSI: Miami (#1: 9.0/15). Rule of Engagement returns on March 1.
While the rating results remain positive for Two and a Half Men, the personal problems for Emmy nominated star Charlie Sheen continue to escalate. Yesterday he was charged with felony menacing and two misdemeanors (assault and criminal mischief) in connection with a Christmas Day incident involving alleged domestic assault against his wife. If convicted of the felony charge, he could face up to three years in prison.
Second-place ABC was on the map as a result of growing The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love, which averaged a healthy 8.2/12 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m., and growing Castle (#2: 7.0/11 at 10 p.m.). Take a look at the half-hour breakdown for The Bachelor, which built in every half hour:

Also worthy of positive mention last night was Fox’s line-up of House (#1: 8.7/13), which has a winning lock in the 8 p.m. hour among adults 18-49, and compatible 24 (#3: 6.6/ 9).
Over at NBC it went from bad to worse with its line-up of Chuck (#4: 4.6/ 7), the season (or series) finale of Heroes (#4: 3.6/ 5), and the second-to-last episode of The Jay Leno Show (#3: 3.2/ 5). If NBC really wants to move forward, it needs to officially cancel Heroes, which has been struggling for two years now. Let it go and move ahead.
Last was CW with original episodes of dramas One Tree Hill (1.8/ 3) and recently introduced Life Unexpected (1.7/ 2). While I recognize who The CW’s target audience is (young females, of course), based on the overnights these are “losing” performances. After seven seasons on the air, it might be time for One Tree Hill to call it quits.

-Record Super Bowl XLIV: Sunday’s Super Bowl match-up between the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints broke the record books, outperforming the prior high set by the series-finale of sitcom MASH in February 1983. Super Bowl XLIV averaged a mammoth 106.48 million viewers, according to the preliminary national results, building by eight percent from the year-ago Pittsburgh/Arizona match-up (98.73 million on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009).

The series-premiere/preview of non-scripted lead-out Undercover Boss clearly benefited, with 38.61 million viewers from 10:13-11:13 p.m. Comparably, that was the largest audience for any new series following The Super Bowl since the advent of people meters in 1987, the largest debut of any reality series ever, and the most-watched new series premiere overall on television since ABC’s The Dolly Show on Sept. 27, 1987. The debut of Undercover Boss also scored the largest audience for an entertainment program this season, and the third largest post Super Bowl audience (behind NBC’s Friends on Jan. 28, 1996 and CBS’ Survivor: The Australian Outback on Jan. 28, 2001).

-Lost Scores on ABC.com: The sixth (and final) season of ABC’s Lost drove record online viewing at ABC.com to over 580,000 episode starts -- up 34 percent over last season’s Lost premiere. Overall, Wednesday marked ABC.com’s highest full episode viewing this season with more than 1.17 million total full episode starts, while Tuesday resulted in 1.8 million unique visitors and over 7.4 million page views, according to data from Omniture. Comparably, that was up by 15 percent in unique visitors and 43 percent in page views from last year’s season-opener.

-The Scoop: A psychologist with a specialty in reincarnation and past life regression therapy teams up with a cynical former NYPD detective to resolve people’s present day problems by exploring past life issues. Kelli Giddish, Nick Bishop, Ravi Patel and Richard Schiff (The West Wing) star.
-The Reality: Airing out of American Idol will ensure that Past Life is sampled. That is a given. But as the regularly scheduled occupant in the Thursday 9 p.m. hour, the competition this week is Grey’s Anatomy on ABC, the second half of the expanded Survivor season-premiere on CBS, NBC’s The Office and 30 Rock, and Supernatural on The CW. And the lead-in is a repeat of Bones. Needless to say, Past Life will nosedive minus the support from American Idol. -Jin Heads to CBS…Maybe: Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Jin on ABC’s soon-to-conclude Lost, has been cast as Detective Chin Ho Kelly in CBS’ proposed remake of classic crime drama Hawaii Five-O. Kam Fong originated the role from 1968-78. Former Moonlight star Alex O’Loughlin is in conversations to play the part of Detective Steve McGarrett.
-Michelle Kwan on GMA: Michelle Kwan, the most decorated figure skater in U.S. history, will be featured on ABC’s Good Morning America beginning on Friday, Feb. 12 as a special correspondent covering the upcoming Winter Olympics.
-Speaking of ABC: Grammy winner Sheryl Crow will guest star in a three-episode Cougar Town arc beginning in March. Crow will play the new girlfriend of Grayson (Josh Hopkins).
-American Chopper Signs Off: TLC has swung the proverbial axe on veteran reality series American Chopper, which will air its final telecast on Thursday. The series premiered on Discovery in 2003.

I so get the nagging feeling that NBC will renew Heroes. As a loyal viewer who has seen every episode, I am begging - PLEASE CANCEL THIS SHOW!!! Sadly, I watch out of obligation. I'm ready to let go.
NBC was so quick with other cancelations - Life, Law Vegas, L&O: CI, L&O: Trial By Jury and so many others. Why they're hanging onto this expensive show (no repeats) is beyond me. The show, once a source of pride, is now a joke.
Yeah, the way the episode was written, it could have worked out to be a final episode. In many ways, it mirrored what happened to the show in real life. Lots of people were drawn to it and it was very powerful, then suddenly when the people left, the show died and went away quietly. I am happy with its ending.
I was an avid viewer of Heroes in the first season; began tuning out in the second. I watched the last 2 episodes, mostly to get some closure. I was relatively happy with the way it ended; the Claire stunt was essentially how it began in season one. I have no interest in the other charcters, or how a 'brave new world' would play out with these writers. Let it go, NBC. If you need another series next season, bring back Life.
NO one is watching Heroes anymore. NBC needs to cut it loose.
